This Blended Training course, includes a basic introduction to key legal requirements, safe work planning, hazard recognition and control at member sites.  This course is valid for three years and is required for entry into member sites. 

This blended learning course is delivered in two parts, and provides learners with a basic awareness of safe work planning processes, with a focus on hazards that are posing relatively high risk to workers across our region.

Part 1: A web-based module that covers the rights and responsibilities of workers, supervisors, and employers, as well as workplace hazards. It also introduces tools for managing and reducing risks.
Part 2: An instructor-led session that expands upon the topics from Part 1, encouraging discussion and sharing real workplace examples.

Course Outline

 This course provides new and young workers with a regionally standardized safety awareness program covering:
  1. Rights and responsibilities of Workers, Supervisors, Employers
  2. Hazards Recognition - Safety, Chemical, Physical, Biological, Ergonomic, including Characteristics, Health Effects, Locations, Control / Mitigation
  3. Work Practices - Processes and documentation tools designed to ensure work is completed safely, effectively, and efficiently.  
  4. Emergency Preparedness 
  5. Incident Reporting 
  6. Mental Health Awareness
